With many Greek distinctions the curtain of the Balkan championship

by

Another great event hosted by Greece and the Hellenic Wrestling Federation ended with great success and dozens of medals for the blue and white team. The Balkan Championship U15-U17 Greco-Roman, Freestyle and Women’s Wrestling, held at the Indoor Gymnasium of Sidirokastro Serres from May 4th to 7th, ended with everyone who attended speaking in the best words.

The more than 540 athletes, from ten different countries (Greece, Albania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Kosovo, Croatia, Moldova, Serbia, Romania) experienced touching, wonderful and shocking moments that only sports can offer.

During the three days that this great wrestling celebration lasted, hundreds of people (athletes, coaches, officials, parents, politicians and simple fans of sports and wrestling) passed by the Indoor Gymnasium of Sidirokastro and left with a smile on their faces.

The Greek wrestlers, in addition to the medals, also collected tremendous experiences for the continuation of their careers, since these were athletes who will be the future of Greek wrestling and will staff the National teams in the coming years.

On the 3rd day of the Balkan championship, the Greek national team left the arena with gold, silver and bronze medals. The Greek delegation registered 19 medals with 5 gold, 5 silver and 9 bronze. However, we also had great honors overall, since Greece took 2nd place in Greco-Roman, 4th in freestyle and 2nd in U17 women.

The gold medal was won by: Maria Louisa Ghika, Sokratis Konstantinidis, Philippos Psomas, Arionas Kolitsopoulos and Dimitris Pappas

The silver: Dimitra – Christina Skouvaki, Maria Vandoulaki – Vandoula, Georgia Hasambalioti, Aik Kazarian and Agapi Ampelidou.

And the bronze: Eugenia Lambrou, Spyros Ioannidis, Vassilis Raphael Papageorgiou, Loukia Karagianni, Thanasis Efthymiadis, Vassilis Kesidis, Avraam Mustopoulos, Theodora Rafilia Argyriou and Manolis Nikolaidis.
