Katas: “I’m not sure that the best team qualified”

On what brought the ban: “We led by 4 and made a lot of mistakes in the series. We made adjustments and held on much better in the second half, that’s where the frustration started. Monaco came in with pressure, aggression, lots of skill. I feel like we wanted it a little too much. You can’t blame the players for over-motivation. I reduced the rotation a bit this time. It might have been a bit in our hands, but those are things that can be analyzed in hindsight. We just had to be more compact and aggressive. We scored at a poor rate, but that’s what made the difference in Game 4.”

On what he’s keeping from the season: “That the players showed me heart and will. I take with me a lot of experience and a lot of pride. We’re going to build something good here, with character and a connection with the fans. We don’t need more than that.”

On whether the best team was the one that advanced to the Final Four: “I’m not sure the best team won, but we have to respect Monaco. He deserved to go to the Final Four. We must learn from this experience and come back. I saw the fighting spirit and desire of my players. We really wanted it for ourselves and for the fans. I also think we deserved it. We are building good things for the future.”
