Meeting of “stars” in Kallithea

The Almaty International Meeting is one of the most important events of classical sports in our country, but also in the whole world and, like every year, this year too it is expected to attract all the eyes of the athletics people on the 24th of the month at the Stadium ” Grigoris Lambrakis”.

In the men’s length, the performances of the two Indian athletes stand out, Jeswin Aldrin with an individual record of 8.42 and Murali Sreeshankar with 8.32, while the latter was the winner of last year’s race at the Kallithea Meeting. Both French athletes of Robert Emyan, Julies Pommery with 8.17 and Erwan Konate with 8.12, will participate in the race.

In the corresponding women’s competition, the participation of the Italian Larissa Iapichino stands out, who won the silver medal at the European Indoor Championships in Istanbul last March with a jump of 6.97. The athlete, who is the daughter of former long distance world champion Fyona May, will start her season from Kallithea and is ready for big performances.

The Swedish Sagnia Khaddi with an individual record of 6.95 will participate in the same event, as will the Romanian, Alina Rotaru with 6.91. The participations of the Cypriot Filippa Kviden-Fotopoulos and the “gold” of Balkanionikos, Vasiliki Haytidou, are also expected to be strong.

In the men’s triple jump, the participation of the Indian, Praveen Chithravel, stands out with an individual record of 17.18, while in the women, the American, Tori Franklin, last year’s winner of the competition at the Almaty Meeting with an individual record of 14.72, as well as the Lithuanian Diana Zagainova with 14.43 .

In the height, Fabian Delryd from Sweden and the Greek champion, Antonis Merlos, promise a strong match. Let’s remember that both participated in the Kallithea Heights Meeting last February.

For the women now, we have the entries of the Swede, Bianka Salming with a 1.92 individual record and the Greek champion, Panagiotas Dosi, with 1.86.

In the women’s pole vault, the Greek champion, Eleni-Claudia Pollak, who recently at the Kalamata meeting had a jump of 4.42, while she has an individual record of 4.70, will participate, as well as the European K18 champion, Iliana Triantafillou, with 4.15 individual record. Among the men, the young athlete, Sotiris Hytas, stands out, with a 5.20 individual record.

The match is organized by the Philatelic Association of Kallithea-Moschatou-Tavros with the cooperation of the Region of Attica and is under the auspices of the Municipality of Kallithea, SEGAS and the General Secretariat of Sports.

The race is included in the calendar of the European Federation, European Athletics, and the World Federation, World Athletics, while it should be noted that since last year it belongs to the “Bronze” series of the Continental Tour of the European and World Athletics Federation.
