THE qualification of Olympiakos to the final of the Euroleague it not only offered the possibility of claiming the trophy for the fourth time in its history. At the same time, with the victory in the semi-final against Monaco, the “red and white” secured significant income.
By qualifying for the final, the doubles of Greece ensure that if they win the trophy on Sunday they will put in their coffers 1,759,398 euros, while in case of defeat they will collect 996,992 euros.
If Olympiacos were to lose to Monaco, they would earn €879,699 if they were victorious in the minor final and therefore third and respectively €762,406 if they were defeated in the consolation match and finished fourth.
It is noted that the above premiums only concern the final ranking of the Euroleague, with the teams receiving a certain amount depending on their position in the regular season. This applies up to the 14th ranked team, therefore Panathinaikos has not received any money.
Extra income from the market pool is also expected, with Olympiakos (and Panathinaikos) expecting a very generous amount from the commercial/television rights, since Greek television offers the largest amount to the common fund of the Euroleague.
