Thanks to a difficult basket of Yule ahead of Fal with 3.2” to go and with Sluka missing the breather, the Olympic defeated 79-78 by the Real Madridin the final of the Final Four.

After the match, George Bartzokas at the press conference he congratulated the Madrid players, while emphasizing that he told his players to be proud of the course they took this year and the way they worked.

In detail what Giorgos Bartzokas said:

“Thank you for being here. It was an amazing Final Four for everyone. The result hurts us, but it was our pleasure to be here. As for the game, I don’t have much to say. We were in front, we had the pace against Real Madrid’s zone defense, we had a lot of good decisions against them, we found a lot of free shots. In the last two-three minutes, we had the chance to clear the match, but we missed open shots, made mistakes and Real’s experience kept them close to the score.

In the end, Rodriguez’s three-pointer and Yule’s suffocating basket gave her the lead. Our feeling is hurt, we are upset for ourselves, for our fans who traveled all the way here. We fought everywhere, throughout the season, we finished first, we qualified from the playoffs and from the semi-final we had the lead almost the whole game. Last year we lost on a buzzer-beater, that’s the way basketball is, it was just against us. Congratulations to Real and to Chus Mateo.

All heads were on the floor in the finale. I told them to pick it up and be proud of the way we worked, we supported each other, but that’s basketball. Sometimes you need luck. I can’t say more, I don’t want to count the budgets, what we presented was a strong, tough team. We were just unlucky in the end. I told them we have one more title to win, we have to close the season in the best possible way.”
