Greece’s opponents in the Men’s CEV Beach Volley Nations Cup 2023

In the men’s group at the CEV Beach Volley Nations Cup 2023 in Heraklion, 25-27 of the month, apart from Greece, which will be represented by Jason Canello/Giorgos Terzoglou and Stavros Dalla/Dimitris Hatzinikolaou, there are also Italy, Ukraine, Denmark and Gibraltar.

The Italians will be represented by Samuele Cotafava/Paolo Nicolai and Alex Ranchieri/Adrian Karabula.

Nicolai is one of the top players in the world, while, among other things, he has won three European championships (2014, 2016, 2017) with teammate Daniele Lupo. Also, in 2016 at the Rio Olympics he won the silver medal. This year, with teammate Samuele Kotafava, they are ranked No. 8 in the world.

Karabula has won many world and European tournaments. This is the athlete whose trademark is the “banana” serve and in 2019 he was named the most fun to watch player on the world circuit. Together with Alex Ranchieri, they are ranked No. 28 in the world.

An old acquaintance will be a representative of Ukraine, namely Serhiy Popov, who will compete with teammate Eduard Reznik.

Ukraine’s second team consists of Vitaly Savik and Anton Moiseyev.

Popov was introduced to the Greeks in 2008 when, together with Valery Samondei, they won the title of European champion in the U18 category in Loutraki.

Popov, along with Reznik, are ranked No. 33 in the world. On the other hand, Vitaly Savik, together with Boyko, is at No. 675 in the world ranking.

Denmark’s first team is Jakob Brink/Christopher Abel, who are No87 in the FIVB rankings, and the second team is Nikolaj Hoffmann/Mands Molgaard.

Gibraltar will be represented by Martin Gomes/Stefan Robba and Christian Segonia/Karl Pardo.
