The half… Prague has been celebrating since yesterday, as Sparta drew goalless with Slovakia and with one matchday before the end of the league, they are three points behind fellow countrymen Slavia.
Keeping in this way the advantage in the tie, as a result of which she is essentially the champion of the 2022-23 season!
The Czech championship is held in two stages. In the regular season and a final stage for the award of the title where the six teams with the best ranking compete against each other in a mini league of six matches.
In the event of a tie at the end of this final phase, the title of champion is awarded to the team with the highest ranking in the regular season, which is Sparta Prague.
Under the guidance of Danish coach Brian Priske, Sparta won their first title since 2014 and secured their place in the new Champions League qualifiers.
Which, on the other hand, means that, in the inevitable scenario of Panathinaikos being eliminated from the 2nd qualifying round of the Champions League, the “clover” will go to the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League as “powerless”, where they will find Slavia opposite them…
In the event that Panathinaikos gets past the Czechs – with whom it was an opponent last season as well – it goes to the playoffs of the Europa League and therefore secures the groups of the Europa Conference League.
