“We are very happy. Today we give way to the future. The state-of-the-art facilities of Er. Panathinaikos will house thousands of children of the municipality and this gives us joy. Today we are taking a step towards double regeneration, with two extensions.
One is with the Panathinaikos stadium, which in 36 months will be ready and will breathe life into a degraded area and the preliminary works have already started and the other is the upgrade of Alexandras Avenue, which once the key to the stadium is handed over, will the old stadium will be demolished and it will breathe green. Regarding the project budget: “We are waiting for the application study to have the final cost. There is no problem with the funding, it is secured and the project will be ready along with the football stadium in 2026.”.
For green spaces: “The percentage of green is provided by the presidential decree and is at 50%. This is for the Botanist and is “locked”. Does not change.”.
For the infrastructure works around the stadium: “The projects will be auctioned, the financing is secured”.
About the importance of the project: “We are talking about a project that we have been discussing for 20 years. in 2020 and 2021 we faced a suspicion, because the Athenians had experienced many frustrations. Now we proceed step by step and without many words. It is the largest urban revitalization project to take place in a city center. Something important is being attempted in Eleonas, in an area that still had a post-war character.
