“I will not return to Barcelona, ​​but I will continue my career at Inter Miami. I wanted to return to Barca, but I didn’t want to leave my future in other people’s hands. I really wanted to go back, I was very excited about that prospect, but on the other hand, having experienced what I experienced when I left, I didn’t want to be in the same situation again. I didn’t want to leave my future in the hands of others“, initially emphasized the 35-year-old ace.

“I had other offers from Europe but I didn’t even consider them because of Barcelona. I wanted to make the decision myself thinking about myself and my family. Although I heard that LaLiga had accepted everything and everything was fine for my return, there were still many things that needed to be done. I heard that they had to sell players or reduce the contracts of some and the truth is that I didn’t want that to happen“, he added.

“I talked to Laporta a bit, 1-2 times at most. I have had a lot of communication with Xavi since he joined the team. We were talking about the possibility of me coming back and we were very excited. We talked about whether he wanted me back, whether it would be good for the team and for him, and we kept in touch“, he continued.

“I hope, I don’t know when or how, but I hope one day I can contribute in some way to Barcelona, ​​because it’s the club I love and I really appreciate the love I’ve received from people during my career. I would like to come back sometime. I watched Barcelona all the time, I wanted them to win titles, like every Barcelona friend. I too would like to say goodbye to the team one day like Xavi, Iniesta, Alba or Busquets“, he stated.

At the same time, he did not hide his dissatisfaction with the media. “Many, many lies have been told, but I cannot come out and disprove everything that is said. But I see that there are many journalists who tell a lot of lies. Many things bother me, like for example when they talk about my family. When they wrote that my son is not having a good time in Paris, when this was not the case but the opposite. My kids didn’t want to leave because we were having such a good time».
