Djokovic made history in Paris: He lifted the 23rd Grand Slam and surpassed Nadal!

by

He wrote history in Paris Novak Djokovic! The great champion prevailed 3-0 set of Casper Rudd in the final and won his 23rd Grand Slam title. That means it is officially the topafter surpassing Rafa Nadal in the list of athletes with the most titles in the four major events and is now alone at the top!

The mythical list of the Serb’s achievements is growing, since he became the first to win all Grand Slams at least three times (9 Australian Open, 3 Roland Garros, 7 Wimbledon and 3 US Open).

The 36-year-old completely dominated his Norwegian opponent, who stood up decently, but failed to seriously threaten the undefeated Novak Djokovic, who has won the first two Grand Slams this year.

In the first set, Rud surprised the Serb and took a 3-0 lead, breaking with the good night. Nole erased it for 4-3 and leveled at 4-4, while he had another break point that he failed to take advantage of afterwards. The set was taken to the tie break, where with steely composure he prevailed 7-1 and made it 1-0.

In the second set it was his turn to put his terms. He started with a break and comfortably reached 5-2. Rud stopped two set points and made it 5-3, but Djokovic “answered” with a love game and ended the set for 2-0.

The third set was more even, with Rudd holding his serve until 5-4. Nole went wild and finished the game scoring 12 of his 13 points.
