And another conquest of a leading inter-club national table tennis championship abroad by a Greek “expatriate” team. The 22-year-old Ioanna Gerasimatou, a member of our national women’s team, celebrated today, Sunday 11/06, the Bulgarian championship with the colors of Comfort. This year he worked with the association from Varna, with very good performances he decisively helped them win the title and in a generally very productive year for the Greek “legionaries” he added another very important moment! There were two rounds of the event, the matches were played collectively and in the last weekend Comfort secured the first place playing on their own ground, in Varna. We remind you that in foreign championships of the 1st national division, the season was preceded by the titles of Yannis Sgouropoulos in France with Enebon, Panagiotis Gionis in Poland with Bogoria Grodzisk, Tasos Riniotis in Spain with Kahazur Priego and Malamatenia Papadimitriou in Austria with Linz AG Frosberg!

In addition, Giorgos Stamatouros reached the final of the playoffs in Denmark with B 75 and Konstantinos Konstantinopoulos in the semi-finals of the playoffs in the Swedish league with Record, all of which make it clear that the Greek internationals still show the great their value and rightfully have a place either in top European leagues or in teams of other top leagues with high goals.

In the 1st women’s category of Bulgaria there were two Greek presences this year. In addition to Gerasimatou, Aliki Kioufi also competed. After all, the teammates in the national team had agreed this year with clubs of the National categories of France. The Kiufi team took 4th place in the Bulgarian championship. It should also be noted that this year, Gerasimatos and Kioufi were the pair of the final in the singles of the Panhellenic women’s championship, in Florina, and the former had prevailed. In the neighboring country they met in the match of the 1st round and Kioufi had won. In the last two days, their teams met again, but Kioufi had not gone to compete. Comfort prevailed 4-1 with Gerasimato scoring 1 win in singles and 1 in doubles.

The championship included 8 teams, the two rounds took place over a total of 4 race weekends and our left-handed international was present in all of them. Comfort, which had taken the lead from the beginning, played the decisive matches for the title yesterday 10/06. From the moment he continued winning, even if he lost in today’s only (11/06) match, he won the title. Saturday’s match against Arduino, the main opponent in the “battle” for the championship, was considered final. Comfort prevailed with 4-2 and in general completed the competition with the absolute of victories.

The Greek women’s singles champion was teammates with Maria Yovkova and two other Bulgarian athletes. He and Yovkova were together this year in the Greek A1 with AEK. The finale of the championship was followed by the awards ceremony.
