The Serbian left back signed a two-year contract with Panathinaikos, while he is expected to be integrated into the mission of his country’s national team, with which he has obligations.

The relevant announcement in detail:

“PAE Panathinaikos announces the acquisition of Filip Mladenovic. The Serbian left-back has signed a two-year contract.

Filip Mladenovic was born on August 15, 1991 in ÄŒacak, Serbia. He started at a young age in Borak, his hometown team. His talent did not go unnoticed and in December 2011 Red Star gave him a four-year contract. He was to stay at the Serbian “bigs” for two years, after Red Star’s financial problems led to a series of changes at the Serbian club. Mladenovic applied for and eventually succeeded in being released at the end of 2013.

In February 2014 he went abroad for the Belarusian champions Bate Borisov. There in his debut he scored and gave his team the Super Cup. Something great had become evident in his career there. He played two ‘full’ seasons, winning two Leagues, two Super Cups and one Cup, while participating in the Champions League groups in 2015-16, starring with two goals in a great 3-2 win over Roma!

Thanks to this course, several great clubs – such as Milan – were interested in Mladenovic joining their team. Finally, in January 2016, he ended up in the Bundesliga and Cologne, but where he failed to establish himself. A year later it was assigned to the Belgian Standard Liège. There he got little opportunities and finally in January 2018 he was sold to the Polish Lechia Gdansk. In Poland he found his good self again, the one who appeared on the stadiums of Belarus. With Lechia he won the Cup and the Super Cup in 2019, until in the summer of 2020 he was snapped up by the great Polish club, Legia Warsaw. In his first season, he did so much that he became the league’s top footballer! He won the championship, became a key cog in the team, found a place again in the Serbian national team, also playing in the recent World Cup, while ending his Legia career with a Cup a month and a half ago.

We welcome Philip to the Panathinaikos family!”
