THE Michael Jordan and everything related to his great career is still selling like crazy. The shoes Air wore in the infamous Flu Game were auctioned off and sold to the highest bidder for 1.38 million dollars.
In Game 5 of the 1997 Finals against the Jazz, the Bulls legend struggled with high fever and severe stomach upsets. Initially this was attributed to a virus, but in the documentary Last Dance it was revealed that he probably got food poisoning from a pizza he ordered at the hotel on the eve of the match.
Although visibly exhausted, Jordan was unstoppable and had 38 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in just over 44 minutes in leading the Bulls to victory in Utah.
Initially the shoes were taken by Preston Truman, then a Jazz ball boy. He put auctioned the historic heirloom in 2013, but the price they got was $104,765a new record at the time for any shoe worn, in any sport.
Within a decade the price of shoes increased more than tenfold. However, the record for the most expensive shoes sold at auction is also held by Michael Jordan, with those he wore in the second half Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals. The highest bidder had paid $2.238 million.
