Dimitris Moraitis was born on February 3, 1999 in Athens, he is 1.94m tall. and competes in the position of playmaker.
He started playing basketball in the infrastructure sections of Panioni, before starting his professional career with the jersey of the Nea Smyrni team. He signed his first professional contract in 2014 and the following season he was transferred to AEK. He remained there until 2019 when he “moved” to Rhodes on behalf of Kolossos in the form of a loan. In 20 games he averaged 4.8 points and 2.2 assists per game.
In the 2020-2021 season, he returned to AEK and in 16 games in the league averaged 3.8 points and 1.9 assists, while in the BCL he had 17.9 minutes of participation, with 5.9 points, 2 rebounds and 2.1 assists. With AEK he has won a Greek Cup (2018), a BCL title (2018) and an Intercontinental Cup (2019).
In 2021, he signed a two-year cooperation contract with Peristeri. In the 2021-2022 season, he averaged 9.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.2 steals in 19 matches of the Greek league.
In the 2022-2023 season, Moraitis scored 7.2 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per m.o. with Peristeri. in 32 matches.
Dimitris Moraitis from a very young age served the ranks of the National team, starting with the U16, then he competed in the U18 and U20. In February 2021, he was called up to the Men’s National Team for the first time to participate in the EuroBasket 2022 qualifiers. In February 2022, he played in 2 matches for the 2023 World Cup qualifiers. He was also pre-selected for EuroBasket 2022, but was not in the final selection. With the men’s national team, Moraitis has 7 games with 54 points (m.o.: 7.71).
