In the “goodbye” published by Chelsea via Social Media, o Athpiliquette he couldn’t hold back his tears, describing the team as his family and stressing that he didn’t expect to get so much love from his friends!
“It’s really hard for me to put into words the feelings I have right now. It was an incredible stay here and I just thank everyone. All this would not have happened without them. What a trip! The moments we lived here will stay with me forever. This is my home and I hope we meet again. The love they have shown me is something I am proud of. I hope we can maintain this relationship forever.
I’m leaving Chelsea after 11 years. I couldn’t imagine all this, but I feel grateful. I’m proud to have stood up for Chelsea and had fantastic memories both on and off the pitch. I spent a whole life here, with all the moments we lived with teammates, coaching staff and coaches. It was amazing.
