It seems that its limitations UEFA regarding teams belonging to the same company… go soft.
The European Football Federation examined the cases of Brighton, Aston Villa and Toulousewho will participate in Europa and Conference League in the new season and concluded that there is no problem with their ownership status, even though they are linked to Union Saint Gilois, Guimaraes and Milan respectively!
By law, the FA only allowed one team under the same owner to play in Europe, with the highest-placed club in the league taking precedence.
In the three aforementioned cases, the conclusion of the investigation indicated that there were significant changes in the status of each club in order to harmonize with the regulations.
In the case of Villa and Guimaraes, for example, the American owners reduced their percentage of shares in the Portuguese club.
However, it became known from UEFA that the teams connected to each other, they cannot proceed with transfers or loans each other until September 2024.
In addition, they agreed not to have any type of cooperation, commercial or technical, as well as not to use the same scouting network.
It is recalled that the Federation had found itself in an awkward position due to Salzburg and Leipzig in previous years, with the two teams finally facing each other in the Europa League groups in 2018.
Clubs with the same owners are allowed to play in the UEFA competitions next season.
These clubs are:
????????????Aston Villa and ???? Vitoria Guimaraes
???????????? Brighton and ???? Union SG
???? AC Milan and ???? Toulouse
However, clubs accepted some rules… ??
