Double success for Greece in Rowing World Cup held in Lucerne.
Two Greek crews each won a bronze medal in the Swiss city. In particular, in competition with Christina Bourmou-Evangelia Anastasiadou and in the double el. weights with the Zoe Fitsiu-Milena Kontou.
Greece returned to the podium of the event seven years after the last time, when Katerina Nikolaidou and Sofia Asoumanaki won the bronze in the double skiff.
The first time medal was taken by Bourmou and Anastasiadou in their first event participating together. They finished with a time of 7:11.22 leaving in 4th place the experienced crew of Denmark who finished in 7:13.70 while the silver medal was won by Romania with 7:05.80 and the gold by Australia with 7:00.84.
A little later, Fitciou and Contu finished third with a time of 6:59.54, just a few centimeters behind the Romanian crew that took the silver with 6:58.98, while the gold was won by Great Britain with 6:54.57
THE Stefanos Duskos took sixth place in the skiff with 7:07.92, while 6th also finished Antonis Papakonstantinou-Petros Gaidatzis in the men’s double sculls final with a time of 6:33.78.
In the B final of the Men’s double, Thanasis Palaiopanos-Yiannis Kalandaridis took 5th place and 11th overall with 6:21.55.
Now all five crews will start their preparation for the Men’s-Women’s World Championship in Belgrade (3-9/9) where, apart from the distinction, they will claim the first tickets for the Paris Olympic Games next year.
The Greek delegation returns at dawn on Monday (00:50) via Zurich.
