Giorgos Afroudakis estimated that our national polo team can succeed against Serbia in the semi-final and qualify for the grand final of the World Athletics Championship. The head of the Greek team spoke to News Bulletin 247 and Sotiris Tabakos pointing out that our opponent in the 4 is not as strong as in previous years while meaningfully mentioning that history owes something to our team.
“There is enthusiasm for the qualification and our national team has established itself among the best teams in the world. And you know this is what we wanted and the most difficult thing”, he said and added:
“After the Olympic medal, the National Team has shown us its potential. I think the Italians would be a more difficult team and people may think that the Serbs are the fearsome, but my opinion is that the match is within our reach. It is perhaps our time and our turn to take the match.
The team is still not 100% in their tournament performance. If we exclude the last 8 minutes in the match against the USA, we have other room for improvement. We also have an important loss that we must not forget. Vlachopoulos, who we miss and it would be a different team, but our players are trying to fill the gap and they have succeeded”, he emphasized and added:
“There can be no doubt. The Greek loves polo. And we could be even higher…but unfortunately we lack swimming pools. We have a problem, imagine what the National team will be training. This year we didn’t have a solid base”, he said and pointed out that a big role in the success of our national team is the good work done in our teams.
