Responsibilities solely with the Greek police and not with Dinamo Zagrebwho believes that he should not be punished, dismissed former security officer and former board member of the Croatian team, Kresimir Andolic. In fact, she believes that he is the perpetrator of her boyfriend’s murder AEK in the New Philadelphia raid he was not an organized Dinamo Zagreb fan, while he expressed concern about reprisals and called on Croatian and Greek police authorities to cooperate in the run-up to the matches.
“From what has become public knowledge so far and with the information I have at my disposal, the first person responsible is the Greek police, who allowed 120, 150, 200 hooligans to come to Athens, walk around undisturbed and arrive at a neighborhood, where they caused such serious incidents and one person was killed. I believe that Dinamo should not face any punishment for what happened, because there was no movement of fans and they had not taken tickets, while they had informed their fans in time not to come. Both the Greek and Croatian authorities knew that they would try to get fans to come to Athens for episodes“, he emphasized.
He himself previously had a partnership with the fanatical fans of Dinamo Zagreb. “At some point in the past, in 2018 or 2019, I had direct contact with these fans, and then a colleague from the Ministry of the Interior who had such positions for 20 years came and became responsible for the fans. He was treated very well and there was good communication. Sometimes it worked better, sometimes worse, but there was always a common belief that the team should not be damaged, especially in European games. We have played so many matches over the years, in which we had 2,000 or 3,000 away fans and we have never had such events. I’m sure based on their profile, this knife attack with intent to kill is not consistent with their behavior. That is why we should not stigmatize them. Let’s let the Greek police investigate the case, because we are talking about a murder here. I believe that the Dinamo organizers did not do it, but the investigations will show“, he said.
Asked if he is worried about the upcoming matches between the two teams? “There should be no panic, but I believe that the Croatian police should take very seriously what happened in Athens. So far they haven’t, because as far as I know, no Croatian police officer specialized in dealing with incidents has gone to Athens. The Croatian police should already tomorrow send people to Athens, to cooperate with the Greek police, to see who the arrested are and to prepare now for the August 15th match. Not to start on the 15th of the month, but several days earlier, because I am sure that AEK fans will want to take revenge. In the fan movement, it is considered the greatest shame to have fans of the opposing team come to your stadium, beat you up and kill one of your own fans».
