Laurio announced the acquisition of Xavier Castaneda

KAE Lavrio announces its agreement with athlete Xavier Castaneda for the 2023-2024 season.

The new player of our team was born on March 26, 2000 in Chicago, he is 1.85m tall. and competes in positions “1” and “2”.

Xavier Castaneda began his collegiate career at the University of South Florida in 2018. As a Freshman he averaged 4.3 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 38 games and nearly 19 minutes of action.

The following season (2019-2020) was better for Castaneda where in 31 games he was a starter in 15 and had 5.1 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

In his third year at South Florida he averaged 8.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists on 38.7% from the three-point line in 20 games and nearly 24 minutes of action.

Two outstanding years at the University of Akron followed. The first (2021-2022) he had 34 games, in all of them a starter, with 13.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists with 37.3% on three-pointers.

In the season that ended he was impressive. In 31 games (30 as a starter) he averaged 21.7 points on 39% 3-point shooting (110/282), 4.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists. He led his team to a 22-11 record, third in the MAC region. Scored 30+ points in 8 Zips games and was held in single digits just once!

With these performances he managed to find a place on the roster of the Los Angeles Clippers in the Las Vegas Summer League, where he played in 3 games and averaged 5 points and 2.7 assists.
