The president of Croatia, Zoran Milanovic, launched a direct attack on the Greek authorities, greatly raising the tone of the confrontation regarding the decisions that have been taken regarding the pre-trial detention of the Croats and their detention.
Milanovitch spoke of the behavior of the authorities as if they were prisoners of war, while emphasizing: “You have five days to find the parasites from a group of people, and you arrest them all, scatter them all over Greece, so that they can be beaten and raped.”
“The law is not respected. They treat these people like prisoners of war. If I were the prime minister, I would think about what I could do. It’s not simple. It looks like the law of war. They treat them like a captive unit”Milanovic initially reported and continued:
“I can state the reasons why it happened and why in Greece, and what Greece could get from UEFA and why it is important for them to transfer the responsibility to the 100 Croats. How many Greeks have been arrested? You have five days to find the vermin from a group of people, and you arrest them all, scatter them all over Greece, so they can be hit and run! Great, this is the European Union. You can’t hold 100 people prisoner for five days. These five days give you the opportunity to find out what happened and besides, they are human beings and our citizens have human rights. But Croatian fans are treated like pests in Greece. It has nothing to do with democracy and respect for human rights. If this is the European Union today, we’d better not have it.” emphasized and concluded: “I only spoke of the obvious. This is the most common savagery”.
