Kini: “We have a complete roster – I’ve been watching Olympiakos since I was a kid”

How are you experiencing your first time at Olympiakos? What are your impressions after moving from Spain to Greece?

“My first month at Olympiakos is going very well and I am very happy! I am adapting to the club. All my employees and teammates have made me feel extremely welcome. I couldn’t be better. I’m slowly getting to know the city. My family is already here and I have only positive things to say about what I see.

My transition from Spain to Greece is very positive. It’s the first time I leave Spain and I really like what I see. Olympiacos is a big club that I already knew, but now I see its real dimensions and I have high expectations for a good season. I want to enjoy the club and its world and try to achieve great things together.”

What did you think when you were presented with the prospect of Olympiakos?

“From the first minute they told me to come here I didn’t think twice. It was a big step for me to leave Spain and come to a beautiful country, to a historic club. When the opportunity came I couldn’t wait to come and now I’m very happy and ready to work, help the team and do everything I can to achieve our goals this year.”

You made your European debut with Olympiakos against Genk. How did you feel about that?

“I felt really good. I played in both games against Genk and I’m very happy that we qualified and that I had my first European cap. I am very optimistic about the sequel. I knew enough about the atmosphere of the stadium, but now that I have experienced it from the inside I see that it is particularly beautiful and I am happy for my start, for the result and for qualifying”.

Olympiacos is one step away from entering the Europa League groups. What must he do to overcome the obstacle of Czukarytsky?

“It will be two difficult matches. To pass we will have to be good in both games, show our best selves. Let’s play in both games like it’s a final and give 100%. Also, we should have the right mindset to have a good chance of qualifying.”

What is your opinion about this year’s Olympiakos team?

“Our team is quite good, with a sufficiently complete roster, with many alternatives and with players of quite good quality. We have a lot of ability to have a great season and achieve great things.”

You worked with Mr. Diego Martinez before doing so and now at Olympiakos. What is your opinion of him as a person and as a coach?

“Yes, I was lucky enough to work with him in Granada and I have nothing but good things to say about him and his colleagues. I thank them very much because they are the coaches with whom I have achieved the best performance. I think that is his greatest quality, that he brings out the best in the player and that he makes all the players feel important.”

What has made the biggest impression on you during your time at Olympiakos?

“Since I was little, I always heard about Olympiakos and about their games in Europe. I watched him since I was a kid on TV when he played with Spanish teams. I know it is the biggest club in Greece and its size is impressive.

The stadium, the facilities, the people who work and of course the fans… The way they show their love really impresses me. It’s a great club, I hope they can achieve great things and give joy to their fans.”
