Coleman: ‘We got what we deserved and things could have been worse’

by

Disappointed, the coach of Peristeriot appeared at the press conference that followed the match between Atromitos and Olympiakos at “Karaiskakis”. Chris Coleman.

After emphasizing that his team got what they deserved, he admitted the superiority of the “red and whites” and reflected on the way the four goals came.

In detail what the coach of Atromitos said:

For the game: “We got what we deserved and it could have been worse to be honest. We got what we deserved against a very good team. Olympiacos had 4 or 5 matches under their belt, while for us it was the first official game. There was a big difference. Olympiacos completely dominated after the first goal. Overall, I am disappointed with how Olympiakos’ goals were scored. So we can’t have complaints about anything”.

On what he told his players at halftime: “There was a difference in the tension part. The sad part for us was the faith part. That’s what I said in the locker room. That we seemed to have no faith in getting anything. We had prepared very well. If we had played against Panathinaikos, things would have been better for us.

We were playing an Olympiakos team that is better than last year and has the momentum. For us, what was going to go wrong did. The Greek league is very competitive. You can easily find yourself in 3-4 matches without a win. I admire my players a lot and we have a great dressing room. Maybe the match didn’t go their way mentally and physically. We could have lost 5-0 or 6-0.”
