By winning the 29th place, Konstantinos Alexoudis completed his second consecutive participation in a top table tennis tournament for boys and girls, the Euro Mini Champs U11 and U13 of France.
On the third and last day of the competitions, which traditionally take place in Schiltingheim, Alsace, he scored on Sunday 27/08 2 wins and 1 loss and took an honorable, undoubtedly, place among 127 athletes in the category up to 13 years old.
In fact, apart from the presence of top European names, exceptionally, as has been the case in recent years, great players from Japan participated, raising the competition level and level of difficulty. GS champion Filia Orestiadas had, first of all, valuable double experience in France.
First he took part in the European Sports Union (ETTU) training camp in Creps (Eurotalents Development Camp II U-13) and immediately after that he competed in the annual Alsace tournament.
He played 15 matches, entered the main draw after four qualifying stages and scored a total of 9 wins. He showed a remarkable competitive face in yet another international event and had a better record than last year at the Euro Mini Champs when he reached the 16th of the “consolation”.
His companion and responsible coach in both events is Manolis Alaroupi. He also had a useful experience from his side and from September 1st he will start working with the Orestiada club, as agreed in the summer.
Alexoudis, number 12 in the European U13 ranking of August, had secured the qualification for the knockouts with two 1st places and two 2nds in the qualifying groups the previous two days. On Saturday night he reached “32” and continued in ranking games. In addition to the remarkable number of victories, the three days had many strong matches, which were decided in 5 sets, a sign of good performances and high competitiveness. Today, Sunday, the 13-year-old left-hander initially faced the Portuguese Rodrigo Andrade for positions 25-32. He took the lead twice, but in the end was defeated 3-2 (12-10, 5-11, 13-11, 4-11, 8-11). For positions 29-32, he defeated Oriol Martinez from Andorra with 3-0 (11-9, 11-6, 11-4) and finally the Spanish Matias Betancor with a reversal from 0-2 sets to take 29th position ( 9-11, 8-11, 11-4, 11-7, 11-7).
