At “Trial in the Open” hosted the lawyer Andreas Theodoropoulos who defends one 48 year old sports fan who was savagely beaten by Croatian hooligans when he went to her court New Philadelphia with his 11-year-old son on the day of Michalis Katsouri’s murder.
Initially, Mr Mr. Theodoropoulos stated: “It’s 25 hits of baseball bats, repeated and killer hits. This man lives by miracle. He could be the second dead. Luckily he got up at the last minute. The picture says it all. They are the Croatian hooligans, who unfortunately came with the tolerance of the Greek Police who knew, two days before they entered Greek territory, that they were coming with threatening and murderous intentions, with the cooperation of fans of other teams and did nothing».
Later, Mr. Theodoropoulos added: “The category with which justice has characterized this offense is criminal organization 186. It is not joint homicide. Lawyers know. So if we go to a court, in a trial with 104 members who are members of the criminal organization and some of them run it, you understand that the sentence will not be life because the charge will not be joint homicide as in the case of the unfortunate Alkis Kampanos. Here if the murderer of the unfortunate Michalis is not found and those who tried to assassinate my principal will only be charged with 186, we are talking about 6-7 years maximum in prison if there is no suspension. If there is a suspension, they will be free until the Court of Appeal. This is the truth, I’m talking to you legally. I will fight to change the crime of organized crime to collective murder. This is what I am trying to do with the 18th interrogator to organize the defensive tactics of my principal and the colleagues who are defending the relatives of the unfortunate Michalis.
But to be clear, the same people who commit fan crimes are the same people in criminal law, they are the same people who commit some other criminal crimes.
