Severe criticism of Spanish refereeing for her treatment of the strikers of La Liga, but also for her general level, exercised the Robert Lewandowski.
The Barcelona striker believes that the way the Iberian Peninsula country’s league games are run does not favor attacking play at all, thus reducing its appeal.
“The league doesn’t attract enough attacking play“, the Pole told Eleven Sports.
“Referees are ‘killing’ the league. In some cases they give too much freedom to the defenders. If I commit a foul, suddenly they interpret it differently and show me a straight yellow card, so that they make it easier for the defenders. It is not normal. La Liga does not want to favor attacking play“, said the 35-year-old.
“This is why La Liga is not attractive or friendly to attacking play. Spanish referees are killing La Liga. It’s strange, because the referees seem to know that there is a team that doesn’t want to play football, that pretends, provokes and commits a lot of fouls“, concluded the Catalan superstar.
Robert Lewandowski was sent off in last year’s Barcelona game in Pamplona after elbowing Rojillos centre-back David Garcia in the neck and was ruled out for three games.
