Triumph of Alimos over Ferentsvaros

by

A historic triumph was celebrated by Salty on the mighty Ferentsvaros in Budapest, in its second game for the 1st qualifying group of the Women’s Champions League. Alimos plays again in the evening (20:45) against Glyfada and, with a victory in the Greek “civil war”, definitively secures the ticket for the “16”.

Led by the sensational Alexandra Asimaki and worthy supporter Mount Megens, the Greek team defeated last year’s Euro Cup finalist 14-13 and largely secured qualification to the next phase of the competition.

The team from Panos Vergos was consistently behind the score in the first half, but with a difference that never exceeded two goals. At the beginning of the third period, two consecutive goals by the formidable Asimaki and one by Megens gave Alimos the lead (7-6) for the first time, which then reached 9-7 and 10-8, with Kovacevic’s goal at the end third quarter. In the last period, the Magyars fought for the reversal, but every time they came close to the goal, the “black and white” had the answer. Laimeter at 40” reduced to 14-13, but Ferentsvaros’ last shot was stopped by Dzurka’s crossbar.

The eight minutes (with the usual home team Ferentsvaros first): 2-1, 4-3, 2-6, 5-4

The composition of Alimos: Tzurka, Megens 4, Kovacevich 1, Rakintzi, Mel. Karypidou 2, Chaldaiou 1, Asimaki 4, Iro Karypidou, Kulhaas 1, Marg. Bitsakou, Tsimara, Kontogianni 1, Archontaki
