Tom Brady decides to retire from the NFL after 22 seasons and 7 titles

by

After 22 seasons and seven Super Bowl titles, Tom Brady, 44, will retire from the NFL. The quarterback’s decision was initially revealed by Adam Schefter, a reporter for ESPN in the United States, and shortly afterwards shared by the official profiles of the American football league.

The intention to leave the sport had already been expressed by the player last Sunday (23), after the loss of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round of the playoffs. He said at the time that he would talk to his wife, Brazilian model Gisele Bündchen, and their children to define their future in the league.

“She deserves what she needs from me as a husband, and my children deserve what they need from me as a father. I have so much fun playing football. I love it. But without playing football, I also have a lot of joy now, with my kids. getting older and seeing their development and growth. So all of that needs to be considered. And it will be,” he said shortly after the match.

For now, he has yet to officially speak out about his retirement.

Brady is the most-titled player in NFL history: seven Super Bowl trophies in his gallery, one with the Buccaneers and six with the New England Patriots. That’s more than any franchise in the league has ever achieved.

Despite his advanced age, the defending champion finished the last regular season as the leader in passing yards (5,316) and touchdown passes (43) and is among the contenders to win the MVP award. The quarterback has won the award five times, another record.

One of his secrets to keeping himself at a high level for so long is the regular way he takes care of his physical conditioning, including strict diets and attention to rest, such as going to bed early.
