Unacceptable humor about Schumacher by Spanish commentator – He publicly apologized

by

It has been almost ten years since his accident Michael Schumacher in the Alps and the legendary Formula 1 pilot fights his own battle away from the public eye, being stuck and with limited contact with the environment.

A Spanish Formula 1 commentator, Mr Antonio Lobatomade a completely inappropriate “joke” using the German driver’s name during his broadcast Japanese Grand Prix. When one of the other panelists jokingly told him “… Adrian Newey (Red Bull chief engineer) should be shaking, Antonio Lobato is coming“, he commented “… Schumacher should be shaking. Probably not Schumacher, he can’t shake…».

This remark justifiably provoked wave of rage for Lobato, who he was forced to apologize publicly. “I have to admit that I made a mistake without intending to. I couldn’t express myself as I would have liked. I named Schumacher because I was looking for a reference to a great driver in Formula 1 history whom I admire. But I shouldn’t have said that. I know he is having a hard time, but so is his family. Those who know me know that I would never make a joke like that, but it sure was clumsy of me.“, he emphasized in his apologetic message via social media.
