Debut will play in the matches against the Czech Republic at home and the Netherlands away for the EuroBasket 2025 qualifiers in February. Vassilis Spanoulis was born on 7/8/1982, he took his first basketball steps in GSL and Keravnos and in 1999 at the age of 17 he started his professional career with the team of Larissa.
In 2001 he went to Maroussi where he stayed until 2005, when he got his first transfer to Panathinaikos. A year later he joined the Houston Rockets, but in 2007 he returned to the “greens” until 2010, when he was transferred to Olympiakos. He stayed there for more than ten years, ending a long sporting career on June 26, 2021.
He won a total of 3 Euroleagues, 7 championships, 4 Greek cups and an Intercontinental Cup.
In his sports career, he played for the Men’s National Team 146 times and scored 1494 points, being a member of the team that won the gold medal at EuroBasket 2005, the silver medal at the 2006 World Cup and the bronze medal at EuroBasket 2009.
He also had 25 appearances with the Junior Men’s National Team with which he won the gold medal at the 2002 European Championships, 31 appearances with the Junior National Team with which he came third in the 2000 European Championships, while he also won the silver medal at the Mediterranean Games in 2001.
In the 2022-23 season, he began his career as a coach, with the team of Peristeri, in which he continues. In the first year, he led his team to the final of the Men’s Cup and 3rd place in the Basket League.
