Transfer “bang” in the Third National, with Makedonikos announcing the acquisition of Milan Lalkovic, a graduate of the Chelsea Academy, who left a season in Walsall and was on the verge of returning to League One, with Doncaster!
The champion of the 2nd group of the 3rd National is three points above the second Kozani and makes a transfer… promotion!
Milan Lalkovic played in the National League North and Bolton United, while training fully with Doncaster, preparing for his return to the third division of English football.
The announcement of Makedonikos in detail:
«The management of Makedonikos is pleased to announce the start of its cooperation with the football player Milan Lalkovic.
The name of the 29-year-old Slovak winger needs no further clarification, if one utters it in the center-west of England and in the town of Walsall, where the local fans still drink water to hear it. In fact, Lalkovic can be found in the history books of Chelsea! But let’s start from the beginning.
Standing out from a young age as a player of the Kosice Academy in Slovakia, born on December 9, 1992 made the leap to England on behalf of Chelsea! A protagonist in the K-teams of the Londoners, Lalkovi έφ arrived with the then group of “blues” until the conquest of the FA Youth Cup in 2010! He had loans in Doncaster, the Dutch Anto De Haag and the Portuguese Vitoria Guimaraes, while shortly before the end of his contract with Chelsea, he was loaned to Walsall.
There, the young Milan proved that he can put up with the big ones, leaving tremendous impressions in a year full of appearances (6 goals and 4 assists in 42 games). It was then that he first met the current coach of Norwich, with a great career on the bench of the Premier League, Dean Smith.
The latter wanted to keep Lalkovic in Walson, but the difficulties that a manager put on the young winger, led him to the Czech Republic and Mlada Boleslav. The return to England was through Barnsley, in League One (England’s third professional division). Smith did not miss the opportunity and took Lalkovic back to Walsall next season: with 8 goals and 4 assists in 50 (!) Games, Milan led his team to the third round of the League Cup, the fourth round of the FA Cup and 3rd place in the regular season of League One! Unfortunately, in the play-offs, Walsall did not manage to get a promotion ticket for the Championship. However, in the city they still drink water in the name of Milan Lalkovic, with many fans of the team still sending him messages on social media today to share memories and learn about his condition.
Portsmouth followed in a year when the South England side were promoted from League Two to League One, with Ross County loaning out Lalkovic in the middle of the season to help them in Scotland’s first division.
The return to the Czech Republic was not long in coming: Lalkovi δύο reached the quarterfinals of the Czech Cup twice in a row with Sigma Olomouc and Banik Ostrava, while he also wore the FC Pribram jersey, in a fruitless attempt to help him avoid it.
But the love for England was to bring the Slovak winger back to the “Island”. This time, Lalkovic transferred to the National League, the second semi-professional division of the English football system, signing for Bolton United in October.
In fact, Milan impressed their coach, Craig Eliot, when he made his debut as a substitute against Hereford:
“He is a very good, experienced player. He came in and you could see that he is an intelligent player who has played at a very good level. He was not trying to impress, he was playing for the team and that is what we need. “He was a very team player.”
In addition to his time at Bolton United, Lalkovic trained with Doncaster in December, preparing for his return to League One, but the transfer did not proceed due to a change of coach at the club.
At that point, Makedonikos came to the fore, seeing in Milan Lalkovic a player who can make a difference in the championship of the Third National and have a decisive role in the efforts of the team of George Amanatidis to secure the championship in the 2nd group.
The management of the club welcomes Milan to the big “green” family and wishes him health and great personal and team successes “!
