Triumph of Mars against Anorthosis and Milojevic’s Apollo at the top

Big “double” for Mars and top for Apollo in Cyprus.

The derby of the 7th matchday ended with a triumph for the Limassol team, which prevailed 3-2 at “Antonis Papadopoulos”, while at the same time Apollon beat Doxas 4-0, as a result of which it rose to the top of the league. That’s where the “Lady” used to be.

In the big match of the day, title holders Aris, who were coming off a big win over Rangers in the Europa League, managed to surprise the home side by scoring twice in the first eleven minutes of the match. Gomis opened the scoring in the 7th minute, taking the rebound after Babika’s effort, while Anorthosis missed a great chance for 1-1 in the next minute. The visitors went on the counter in the 11th minute after a mistake by Karga and Mayabela sent the ball into the goal of Michael. Chiko reduced in the 41st minute after a fine effort by Charalambous and the equalizer came in the 66th minute with Julio scoring his first professional goal.

Aris, however, made it 3-2 two minutes later, with Kakorin catching a deflected shot and the ball ending up in the net after first finding the body of Ferrer, with the statistics office billing it as an own goal.

At the same time, Apollon Limassol had Marques in high spirits as he scored a hat-trick (71′, 81′, 89′) against Doxa for Vladan Milojevic’s team, who climbed to the top. Ekpolo opened the scoring for the hosts in the 6th minute.
