Italy is ready to return to the big events!
The “squadra azzura” easily won 4-0 against Malta for the 7th matchday of the third group of the Euro 2024 qualifiers and only if… they kill themselves will they not be in the first two places that secure a ticket for direct qualification to the stadiums of Germany.
In particular, it rose to the 2nd place with ten points, the same as Ukraine has, but with a game less and the tie with its side as it had won the game between them by 2-1. On the other hand, the visitors remained in last place with zero points.
The match, as it is easy to see, does not deserve much criticism. Luciano Spalletti’s side were a step up and in the 22nd minute they took the lead with a superb goal from Bonaventura. In fact, in the first minute of stoppage time in the first half, Domenico Berardi made it 2-0, thus “locking” the victory for the Italians.
In the second half, the pace dropped noticeably from the hosts, however, they remained high and created chances, with the 29-year-old Sassuolo midfielder scoring a second goal to make it 3-0.
The final 4-0 was made in the 90+3′ by Davide Fratezzi, who had come on as a substitute, in a match that Italy played as long as it took and its quality was enough for the three points of the victory.
