Ponce: “I still have a lot to give to AEK – Let’s leave our mark in Europe too”

About the period so far since his return to AEK and also the goals of his team, he spoke Eki Ponce.

The Argentinian forward gave an interview to “Sports Time” explaining that he was determined from the beginning to return to the “yellow and black”. At the same time, he emphasized that he still has a lot to give to the “Union”, for which he emphasized that its intention is to leave its mark in Europe as well.

Was it an easy decision to say “yes” to AEK and leave the Spanish league, even though you had other offers?

“The truth is that I was determined from the beginning to return to AEK, having discussions with the club and our coach. This was very important to my family and me, which led to the decision to return to the club».

You joined a team that has the same coach, almost the same roster compared to last year with a worked and successful competition model. How easy is racing integration on this?



“I have joined a very competitive team with the desire to win and repeat what was achieved last year. When there is a defined racing style like ours, worked and very functional, it is always easier to adapt».

So far you have scored two very important goals, but the world feels that they still haven’t seen the Eki of his first term at AEK. How do you feel;



“I always try to be the best version of myself, to give everything on the field, so that I can help my teammates wherever I can. It is true that in some games we could have done better and we will keep trying, for my part I feel that I have not contributed my best, but of course I am working to achieve that. There are many things I still have to give».

AEK won the double last year. Where can she go this year and if you think she has been lacking in goal efficiency so far.



“I can’t say how far it will go. What I see from how we are and how we work, is that we will go far. And what I can say for sure is that the ambitions of all of us are high, despite the fact that last year the team won the double».

Do you see Europe differently after the “double” in Brighton with your own goal? And is the challenge of Europe bigger than winning the Greek championship again?



“In Brighton we achieved a very important victory, but we will not stop there, nor are we satisfied with it. We want to get other important results and leave our mark in Europe as well. All competitions are difficult. Both Europe and the league. There are good teams both in Europe and in the league. We have our own identity, our own rhythm and our own way both in Europe and in the league and with these we will do everything to be competitive in all the competitions we participate in».
