The mission was welcomed at the Athens International Airport by the President of the Hellenic Boxing Federation, Haris Mariolis, who proves in practice his lively interest and love for the sport.
In Sombor, after all, a double story was written about Greek boxing. On the one hand, it was the most populous Greek delegation that participated in international tournaments and on the other hand the 15 medals are a record, since it is the first time that our country wins so many medals in an event abroad.
With obvious satisfaction from the successful presence, the athletes promised more distinctions in the future.
The president of the Hellenic Boxing Federation, welcoming the team with flowers, among other things, said: “Today we welcome our children, our athletes, who made us proud. Despite the adverse conditions that prevail in Greece, these successes prove beyond doubt that sport is the one that holds high the Greek flag. The success of the athletes exceeded all expectations. We won 15 medals, three gold, three silver and nine bronze.
The performances of all the athletes were excellent, they faced their opponents with dynamism and showed morale and competitive spirit. They made us proud and the most important thing is that they filled us with optimism. These feelings we received make us all want to work harder. There is no better feeling than seeing our children return with medals and, most importantly, seeing happiness on their faces.
They deserve a lot of congratulations and we will continue to fight to give our children the opportunity to smile and pursue their dreams. These medals also belong to their excellent coaches, who, with love and professionalism, prepared the athletes, physically and psychologically, and led them to success, but also to the parents who give their battle every day.
