The goal of qualification was almost achieved after the victory over the Greek national team. Was this the most crucial game?
“We had to beat Greece to get closer to the Euro. That was our big goal. It was definitely the most important game, since we faced a team that wanted qualification as much as we did. We are very happy that we managed to emerge victorious, with a pretty good performance.”
It was a difficult game against the Greek team. How did you experience it on the pitch?
“We expected it to be a difficult game at a tough venue. After the first 15 minutes we dominated, created several chances and took many set pieces. We “touched” the goal in Weghorst’s missed penalty. In the second half, especially as long as we didn’t find the net, the game became more and more difficult. Towards the end, the opponents rose high, as a result of which we were under a lot of pressure from Ioannidis and Greece’s attack. We gave everything, we managed to win and keep a clean sheet.”
Are three consecutive defeats, two of them in the league, putting pressure on Manchester City?
“It was a period with negative results, but without having a reduced performance. We need to analyze and put the defeats at Wolves and Arsenal behind us and of course get back to winning results. Starting with Saturday’s game against Brighton.”
