Panaitolikos overcame the resistance of Volos, won a precious victory and made a save in the championship (2-0)!
Yannis Petrakis’ team scored a goal in each half with a scorer two defenders (Liavas, B. Duarte) and got his first positive result in the Stoiximan Super League, while celebrating a three-pointer for the first time since last February and a match against Ionikos.
Now, the Agriniotes went up to 6 points and left to last seat of the scoreboard the team of Magnesia, which stayed in 2b. Very good presence from several home team players, with Huanpi, Torrejon and Sengelia to stand out.
Forced to find the… restart button o Kostas Bratsos, with the Voliotes making the worst start in their history since being promoted to the top division.
In the minds of the coaches:
With 3-5-2 Yannis Petrakis lined up Panaitolikos, with Kapinos under the posts, Mali, B. Duarte, Mladen in defense, Liava, Huanpi, Peres, Baldasara, Torrejon in the midfield and Fr. Duarte, Voili in attack.
With 4-3-3 Kostas Bratsos took down Volos, with Papadopoulos in goal, Alhos, Kalogeropoulos, Tsokani, Luna in defense, Glavcic, Trouillet, Koba in the center and Corne, Deletic, Garcia in attack.
The match
The game started at a good pace, but without any good moment in front of the two goals in the first 20 minutes. At that point, however, Volos had a very good moment to take the lead in the score. Cornet distributed to Truige outside the area, who made a fantastic shot with many deflections, but the ball stopped on Kapino’s crossbar.
The next good moment in the first half came in the 38th minute for the hosts. THE Days found enough space outside the Volos area and preferred to shoot, with Papadopoulos in good position and blocking solidly.
And where everything showed that the two teams would go to the break in a tie, Panaitolikos managed to take the lead in the delays of the half. After filling Mladen, Luna did not coordinate properly with Papadopoulos, with the ball finding the back of the Volos full-back and laying on the Liava, who made it 1-0 for Agriniotes with a close-range shot!
The first chance in the second half belonged to Panaitolikos. In the 50′, the ball was placed in the Huanpi, who shot on the move, with his effort ending up just wide of the post. Two minutes later, Fr. Duarte found space outside the area and took the shot, but the ball ended up just wide of Papadopoulos’ post, who looked out of place.
In the 64th minute, the Agriniotes missed another good chance. After another excellent cross for Torrejon, Liavas headed in Huanpi, who, from a good position, failed to find the target with a new header.
Ten minutes later, Panaitolikos threatened again, but without being able to score a second goal. After a nice move from the right and a shot outside his area Sengelia, Papadopoulos placed his hands correctly and pulled away with difficulty.
In the 79th minute, the hosts missed another great chance. Sengelia found him with a wonderful ball Huanpi in the area, he tried to beat Papadopoulos with a heel, with the Volos goalkeeper beating him, as well as Hatzitheodoridis subsequently.
However, in the very next phase, they managed to make it 2-0 and seal the victory. After a beautiful corner kick by Huanpi, o B. Duarte beat Kalogeropoulos in the air and with a close header, sent the ball into the net!
The last good moment belonged to Panaitolikos again, without, however, managing to score three goals. In 89′, Sengelia (who was very mobile from the moment he entered the match) went on the counter attack and distributed the right moment to Huanpi, who “dug” the ball over Papadopoulos, but the ball went wide of the post.
MVP: Very good performance from many Panaitolikos players, but the award will go to Huanpi. The presence of the Venezuelan midfielder, who did everything on the field, was excellent. The only thing he missed was the goal.
The whistle: THE Papapetrou he managed the cards properly, while he and his assistants left the game when possible so that there would not be many pauses. Volos appeals for a penalty in stoppage time, with the referee and VAR taking a different view.
The compositions of the two teams:
Panaitolikos (Yiannis Petrakis): Kapino, Malis, M. Duarte, Mladen, Silva, Liavas, Peres (90′ Nikolaou), Baldasara (70′ Hatzitheodoridis), Huanpi (90′ Tsingaras), Voilis (78′ Joao Pedro), Fr. Duarte (70′ Sengelia).
Volos (Kostas Bratsos): Papadopoulos, Alho, Kalogeropoulos, Tsokanis, Luna (78′ Bertoglio), Glavcic, Trouillet (69′ Macheiras), Koba, Cornet (54′ Barrientos), Deletic (69′ Engin), Garcia.
