Opinion – Juca Kfouri: The Brazilian team showed itself in the rout over Paraguay

Not all big-heads are bolsominions, but all bolsominions are big-heads, to begin the column with urbanity, without calling them imbeciles, idiots, ogres, insensitive, fascistoids.

Not here, after all, a space to talk about football.

That’s why the Brazilian team played in Mineirão against Paraguay and won: 4 to 0.

OK, OK, OK, scoring, at home, the team in second-to-last place in the Qualifiers, and with no chance of playing for it, is not a feat, far from it.

It so happens that Tite’s team was facing even weaker teams and won without convincing. So it happened against the current lantern Venezuela, in Morumbi, when the victory by just 1 to 0 was only achieved in the middle of the second half, a goal by Roberto Firmino.

The rout in Belo Horizonte could not even have happened, with two goals in the last minutes, when opponents seemed much more concerned with dinner after the game than with playing for the remaining time.

The complaints, more than just and obligatory from the critics, were not about the results, but about the performances.

Had it ended with 2-0 over Paraguay, the victory was limited to goals from Raphinha and Philippe Coutinho, the result would not have portrayed the team’s performance, and the performance should not fail to be praised by those who criticized it.

Furthermore, at least two of its players, Antony and Gabriel Jesus, expressed their indignation over the barbaric murder of Congolese Moïse Mugenyi, a sign that things are changing in Brazil.

And October is coming to start rebuilding the country.

Marquinhos played a barbarity and gave the passes for the first two goals, half a defender, midfielder that he is; Lucas Paquetá and Philippe Coutinho moved and created with ease; Raphinha showed Mineirão that he does have joy in his legs, not that Bernard of eight years ago; Vinicius Junior and Antony went crazy with their markers, in addition to the plentiful distribution of hats, pens, rollers, in short, bids that made an enjoyable night of football from which little or nothing was expected.

More boring than many of the recent games of the selection only and only the big heads on duty.

In time: it would be a pleasure to find a reason to praise the president who makes us unhappy. But there is not. None.
