One of the favorite forms of romantic football fans, the veteran midfielder now had an appeal in… goals and exactly 30 years ago he had recorded two Premier League goal of the month nominations in 25 minutes!
On October 24, 1993, the “saints” they had beaten Newcastle 2-1 at historic Dell, with the then 25-year-old Le Tissier opening the scoring with incredible energy and a flawless finish in the 62nd minute.
The guests reacted and equalized with Andy Cole ten minutes later, however, “Le God” was back in action in the 87th minute, giving his team the win with an amazing volley!
Both goals were nominated for top of the month, with Le Tissier eventually winning the award – making it the following season for the best of the year…
