FIBA announced on Tuesday that Israel’s women’s national basketball team’s EuroBasket 2025 qualifiers are being postponed until next February due to the war in the Middle Eastern country.
In detail, the announcement:
“Based on the current situation in Israel and following recommendations from its security advisors, FIBA Europe’s Executive Committee has made the decision to postpone Israel’s matches in the November 2023 ‘window’ of the 2025 Women’s EuroBasket qualifiers for February 2024.
The match between Israel and Ireland, previously scheduled to take place on 9 November 2023, has been rescheduled for 8 February 2024.
The match between Latvia and Israel, originally scheduled to take place on 12 November 2023, has been rescheduled for 11 February 2024.
The exact match times for the postponed matches will be confirmed at a later stage.
FIBA Europe, in close cooperation with the Israel Basketball Federation, will continue to monitor the situation as it remains committed to prioritizing the safety and well-being of all participants and stakeholders at all FIBA Europe events.”
