“I must say that it is not easy for most German track and field athletes to make a living from sports. If we are in the national team we only receive 700 euros a month, an amount that is not enough to live on. We often pay out of pocket because we have travel and hotel expenses that aren’t always covered. I’m grateful that I’m making money with social media and can save another part-time job”Schmidt said.
