Wayne Rooney shocked once more.
The veteran English footballer and current manager of Birmingham was hosted by the NFL legend in a podcast where he revealed some aspects of his time struggling with alcoholism.
“I had a lot of different challenges, both on and off the field, and my release from the problems was alcohol”said the former England and Manchester United captain when asked how he has dealt with difficult times in his life.
“When I was in my early 20s, I would spend a few days at home and not go out. I almost passed out. I didn’t want to be around people because sometimes you feel awkward and sometimes like you’ve let people down.
“Eventually, I didn’t know how else to deal with it, so I turned to alcohol to try and help me through it. There were people there for me to talk to, but I chose not to and tried to deal with it myself. When you do that and you don’t get the help and guidance of others, you can be really low and I’ve been there. Luckily now I’m not afraid to go and talk to people about any issues I might have.”
