Handcuffs to six Roma who pretended to be PPC technicians or elevator maintenance workers and robbed elderly people using the method of employment, policemen of the security sub-directorate NA/Attica proceeded.
The members of the spiral, aged from 24 to 47 years, had formed a criminal group since July, with continuous action and distinct, alternating roles per case, committing distinguished cases of theft, in Alimo, Glyfada, Voula and Vouliagmeni. The perpetrators found their victims, mostly elderly people, when they returned to their homes or by ringing the doorbells, with their faces covered with a surgical mask, pretending to be D.E.H. employees. or elevator maintainers. They always reported that there was either an electrical leak or a breakdown of the apartment building’s elevator. Then one of the perpetrators occupied the victim, while his accomplices entered the house and stole jewelry, gold and money.
As it turned out, the total illegal financial benefit obtained by the members of the criminal group and the financial damage they caused exceeds the amount of -190,000- euros.
Afterwards, the perpetrators, under various pretexts (checking the electrical installations of the house or the household appliances and collecting sums of money and gold in aluminum foil so that they would not be damaged), disarmed the victims, while their accomplices entered the house, who removed jewelry , gold and monetary sums.
The total benefit received by the criminals exceeds 190,000 euros!
On Wednesday morning (8/11) SE/Attica security officers went to Ano Liosia where, with the assistance of OPKE men, they identified four of the perpetrators. Afterwards, in the presence of a judicial officer, they carried out home searches where they found various watches and jewelry, clothing of the perpetrators who were recorded as wearing during the commission of the thefts, as well as a number of anabolic preparations, as well as four security cameras, which were in operation and connected to a recorder.
In addition, 2,300 euros and three mobile phones were found and confiscated in the possession of the perpetrators.
