Match for all tastes in the 11th “turn” of the Stoiximan Super League

by

With three games, the curtain opens on the 11th matchday in the Stoiximan Super League, before the next interruption of the championship for the obligations of the national teams.

Specifically, the first match of the day takes place in Heraklion, where OFI hosts PAS Ioannina.

The next match takes place in Peristeri, with Atromitos playing against Panserraikos and an hour later there is the Volos-Aris match at the Panthessaliko Stadium.

OFI-PAS Ioannina

After five draws, all of which were 1-1, OFI and PAS Ioannina finished last year’s meeting in Heraklion 0-0. This was also the only one of their 24 games in the First National/Super League, in which no goal was scored.

Four of their last five home games have ended in draws and that streak was broken in last year’s Stoiximan Playouts encounter, where OFI prevailed 1-0 in Ioannina.

In their last six matches, OFI remains unbeaten with four draws and two wins in both venues. The last victory of PAS Ioannina was on February 21, 2021 at home with 1-0, while typically its last victory in Heraklion was on March 21, 2015 where the match was won 3-0 without a fight. The previous one was on April 22, 2012 with 2-0 (63′ Tzanis, 72′ Villa).

The two teams coexisted for the first time in their history in 1966-67, for the second division, where their first game in Ioannina ended in a 1-1 draw, while on March 12, 1967, OFI won 3-0 (15′ Lemons, 36′ Lemonis, 72′ Vouzunerakis).

OFI’s biggest victory over PAS Ioannina was on April 13, 1980, when they won 4-1. Peter Concilia even scored a hat trick in that match and these were three of the four total goals he had in his 18 games with OFI. However, he put his name next to the title of the first foreign footballer to score a hat trick with OFI, while it was only the third in the history of the Cretan team until then.

The 1-1 draw is the most popular score in the matches between the two teams, with five appearances, while the 2-1 in favor of OFI follows with four.

Fearless-Panserraikos

The first meeting in the history of the two teams took place for the 1st National/Super League on September 17, 1972 at the home of Panserraikos and ended in a 1-1 draw, just like their first match in Peristeri, which ended in a goalless draw on February 4, 1973.

In total, the two teams have met six times with Atromitos at home, who have maintained their unbeaten run at home, with four wins and two draws. In fact, in four of these games he has not conceded a goal. This happened in their first four meetings, after the goalless draw was followed by three consecutive 1-0 victories, a score which is the most frequent in their meetings.

The last time they met was in the 2010-11 season, when Atromitos won 2-1 thanks to goals from Kamaras (22′) and Perone (30′), while Giorgos Georgiadis had reduced the score in the 66th minute.

Atromitos has the general supremacy in the matches that have been played for the 1st National League/Super League, since in a total of 12 matches, it has 6 wins and 3 draws, while Panserraikos has won in three matches at home.

This season Panserraikos has two draws in the five away matches so far and three defeats. His two draws were in Athens, against AEK (1-1) and Kifisia (4-4).

Atromitos, after two draws in its first two home games against Volos and Astera Tripoli, managed to win 3-2 against Panaitolikos in its first win of the season in the league, which took place on the 9th matchday and followed by a second consecutive win against Aris in Thessaloniki.

Volos-Aris

The two teams had met in Volos three times until last year’s championship, but in 2022-23 they met four times and twice in total in Volos.

During the regular season, Volos prevailed 2-0 thanks to the goals of Deletics (26′) and Barrientos (30′), but in the Stoiximan Playoffs, Aris left with an impressive 3-0 (27′ Darida, 77′ Kamara , 80′ Arch).

The Magnesia side have two overall home wins against Aris, the first coming in their maiden meeting on August 31, 2019.

The start of Volos’ home games in the Super League was against Kitrinos for the 2nd matchday and the Magnesia team won 1-0. Volos was coming off the away victory over Panionio and started its new season with two wins.

So far the two teams have met ten times in both venues and there is no match where a goal has not been scored.

In their matches in Volos, Aris has three wins with three different scores, while Volos has two different in the two times they prevailed.

Aris has won in their last three with two being at home and the other as a guest. In 2021-22 there were two away wins.
