Finally… electricity in the training rooms of Agios Kosmas

With an announcement from the National Youth Sports Center of Agios Kosmas, it was announced that the outdoor training facilities of the facilities have been powered up and are operating again, after the damage caused by the recent theft of a power cable, which supplied the lighting poles of the outdoor athletics training facilities. As underlined, the Management Committee of the EAKN Agios Kosmas, in collaboration with the Deputy Minister of Sports, Yannis Vroutsis, launched all the necessary procedures, installing a special power generator, while the complete restoration of the system with the installation of a new cable is imminent by the end of the week .

At the same time, the E.A.K.N. Agiou Kosmas informed that next week the new building will be handed over to the athletes of SEGAS, which will house both the indoor and outdoor athletics training rooms, as well as their supporting areas (medical clinic, physical therapy, small storage area, etc.).

The announcement:

“Regarding reports about the situation in the sports facilities of the National Youth Sports Center of Agios Kosmos, following the recent theft of the power cable, which supplied the lighting poles of the open athletics training grounds (tracks and throws), we express our regret for the inconvenience caused to the athletes who use the specific facilities.

Unfortunately, the damage caused by the theft was significantly greater than initially could be estimated, since at the same time serious damage was caused to a central electrical panel.

However, the Management Committee of EAKN Agios Kosmas, in collaboration with the Deputy Minister of Sports, Yannis Vroutsis, launched all the necessary procedures, installing a special power generator.

Thus, as of today, Wednesday, November 15, 2023, the two outdoor training facilities were powered up and the system will be completely restored with the installation of a new cable (by the end of the week).

In addition, from the test carried out with the installation of the generator, it was found that the theft of the cable has caused further damage to two light poles and a significant number of light fixtures.

We assure all athletes that any problems are dealt with immediately, efficiently and comprehensively. Our actions aim at the best possible conditions for them to cope with the difficult task before them.

As a Management Committee, our daily concern is to ensure that they continue their efforts with the same persistence and dedication.

Based on the above, we inform you that next week the new building that will house both the indoor and outdoor athletics training rooms of the E.A.K.N. Agios Kosmas as well as their supporting areas (physical therapy clinic, small storage area, etc.).
