PAOK found a small offensive “breather” and with a quick 6-0 from Fridriksson and Alston, they went again at +17 and 62-45 in the 26th minute.
Aris, however, not only did not… chew on the fact that the difference escaped again, on the contrary, faithful to his plan, he managed to “gnaw” the difference even more, with his excellent three-pointer in this quarter, Sanogoreduced by as many as 7 (66-59), with the third period ending with score 68-59.
The derby turned into… a thriller, since Aris had returned for good to claim the match. Playing excellent defense and “locking” PAOK’s offensive assets, the guests reduced to a basket with Galinat’s three-pointer (68-66) in the 33rd minute. The “two-headed man from the north” found his first points four minutes after the start of the quarter and thanks to a short 5-0 run went to +7 (73-66) in the 36th minute. Harel and Katsivelis reduced the score to 73-70, with Fridrickson and Alston again giving the hosts a safety “cushion” (77-72). Yes, the 3-pointer by Kendall Smith at 1:10 before the final, he made the score 80-74, essentially clearing the match for PAOK, who won the Thessaloniki derby with the final 82-76!
