Maksvitis: “Olympiacos has an advantage against Panathinaikos – I wish Mitrou-Long the best”

THE Olympic was in an excellent evening from afar (15/29) and with their protagonists Canaan, Peters took very easily against Zalgiris his third consecutive victory in the Euroleague (89-72)!

After the match, Kazis Maksvitis congratulated the hosts for their excellent performance and their victory, while comparing Piraeus with Panathinaikos and referred to his departure Naz Mitrou-Long.

In detail what he said:

For the match: “I want to congratulate Olympiakos. I think we started the game well, especially in the first quarter, but Olympiacos then hurt us. In the second quarter, mainly with our bad defense, we gave them the opportunity to take the lead and when you allow this to Olympiakos, it creates a big problem for you. We actually got stressed, lost our concentration, Olympiacos made big shots. It’s not only the shots of Peters and Kanaan that hurt us, but those of Walkup and Brunzdeikis, who are not used to it and thus got a big difference and the victory.”

For Mitrou-Long: “He would have stayed with us, if the proposal from Olympiakos had not come. I think that this attention from Olympiakos changed his patience, to stay in our team. He is a tremendous professional, a hard worker, a good player and a good person. I’m sad it didn’t work out with Naz, but he’s a good person and I wish him the best with his new team.”

For the comparison between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos: “They were two completely different games. At OAKA we controlled the match for the longest time, however we made some mistakes at the end and lost the game. Today was a completely different match, because we were different, we didn’t play well. Both teams are talented, they both have a chance to reach the playoffs, I consider it almost certain, I just think that Olympiacos has an advantage against Panathinaikos because of their chemistry.”
