The visitors were received by the strong man of the Union, Dimitris Melissanidis.
AEK’s update in detail: Shortly before officially opening its gates to the public, the Museum of Refugee Hellenism, at our stadium in New Philadelphia, received today (Saturday 2/12) some very honorable visits.
More specifically, the former president of the Republic Mr. Prokopis Pavlopoulos and the Academy of Athens, represented by its current president, professor and former Minister of Justice Mr. Michalis Stathopoulos and its former president, distinguished jurist and professor Mr. Apostolo Georgiadis.
The special visitors of the Museum of Refugee Hellenism were welcomed by Mr. Dimitris Melissanidis and guided around its premises by its director, Mr. Efi Mavropoulou. With them during the visit were the former ministers Kostas Laliotis and Giorgos Lianis.
Also, the invited guests had the opportunity to take a guided tour of the facilities of the AEK stadium.
At the same time, Mr Prokopis Pavlopoulos spoke in derogatory terms about the “yellow and black” stadium, stating: “We must not forget our history and our culture but also the uprooters without harboring hatred for the perpetrators who have not apologized» and continued:
“The stadium of AEK, the refugee team, as built by Dimitris Melissanidis, is a place of sports and culture. Mainly it is a place of history, which teaches. He teaches all Greeks, not just the fans, beyond and beyond fan criteria. It teaches that we cannot forget our history. We must defend our culture and history. Through this space, our memory goes back to the great uprooting of the Pontus and Asia Minor and at the same time to those tragedies of the barbaric genocides of the Hellenism of the Pontus and Asia Minor.
We cannot forget these uprootings and genocides. I say this from this space, not because we should harbor hatred towards the perpetrators, even if they have not apologized one bit, but so that we Greeks, with our history and our culture, together with all the other peoples who embrace the same principles and values of humanity and democracy, to be able to impose what the whole world needs. Never again. Let’s never go back to this kind of barbaric behavior. And I say that, because times are hard.
Let’s not take anything for granted. Neither peace, nor democracy, nor humanity are given. If we do not defend them we will return to barbarism. And we, especially the Greeks, cannot and should not accept such a thing! Congratulations to Mr. Melissanidis, every success in AEK, as a Greek team representing Greece and I hope others will follow suit».
