Prometheus bent the… steel AEK Betsson BC in a match-advertisement!

After an enjoyable battle in “D. Tofalos” o Prometheus defeated 100-95 her AEK Betsson BCgoing up to 7-2 in the Stoiximan Basket League, while on the other hand the Union relegated to 4-5.

The match had an incredible development, with Patrinos closing the first half at +19 (59-40) and reach even at +25 (72-47) at the beginning of the second part, with his team Square to make a tremendous comeback in the second half, setting… on fire in the final minutes.

Very “hot” o Hunter Hale of Prometheus, who finished the match with 32 points, with Anthony Cowan to add 22p. and the Haime Etsenike 17p.

From AEK Betsson BC, the first scorer was Jordan McRae with 21 points and was followed by Chason Randle with 17 p. and 6 assists.

The match

Prometheus started with Reynolds, Koniari, Chrysikopoulos, Etsenike and Hale, while AEK Betsson BC started with Karabela, Netzipoglou, Hatzidakis, Kouseloglou and McLemore. The poor defense of the Union in the racket was taken advantage of in the first minutes by the Patrinos and with Etsenike as a big star they went +6 (11-5) in the first four minutes. Prometheus was in control of the match at the beginning of the second quarter as well, as they took advantage of AEK Betsson BC’s poor defense and offensive rebounds, leading to a +13 (37-24) lead at 13′. The Union reacted with Randle and McRae and went down (39-29) temporarily, but the Patrinas’ response was immediate and with Cowan in front they escaped to +17 (48-31), at 16′. With the return of Campengele to the court, Platha’s team found solutions in the attack (51-39), until 18′. In the last minutes, Hale returned, who continued to be very “hot” and with his own shots sent the hosts to the locker room with +19 (59-40).

The mistakes of AEK Betsson BC and the duo of Etsenike and Hale at the beginning of the second half led Prometheus for good, who shot the difference to +25 (72-47), in the first three minutes. Then the Patrinos relaxed and got out of rhythm. This had the result that the Plathas players took the momentum of the match and with McLemore, Kuzminskas and Flionis, ran individual scores of 17-1, dropping the difference to a single digit value (73-64), until the 28th minute. Hale’s three-pointer “unstuck” the hosts, who closed the third period at +11 (78-67).

With an excellent defense and McRae entering the fourth period very hungry, AEK Betsson BC came close to -6 (83-77), at 23′. Hale and Reynolds gave Prometheus a breather, sending him to +9 (88-79), at 25′. The American still kept the Union offensive, but Cowan and Coffey’s three-pointers sent the Patrons to +10 (94-84), at 27′. Missed attacks from both sides followed, with Campengele breaking the…pomegranate and Cowan answering with 2/2 shots by Cowan (96-86) with 1:14 to go. In the remaining time, the two teams mainly made free throws with back-to-back fouls and Prometheus taking the victory with the final 100-95.
