An announcement about the serious incidents that took place at Panthessalikos during the match between Olympiakos and Volos was issued by Greek police.

As reported by the GED of Thessaly, in the last minutes of the match fans tried to invade the playing area of ​​the stadium, a large group of people attacked the police forces by throwing stones and direct fire flareswhile they were carried out 16 additions.

The announcement in detail:



“Regarding an incident during a football match at the Panthessal Stadium, the following is clarified:

In the 90th minute of the match, people, who were in the stands of the stadium, tried to enter the stadium. The immediate actions of the police officers, who were carrying out order measures, using the appropriate methods, prevented their entry.

Later, a larger group of people, outside the stadium, moved threateningly towards the police – hurling objects (stones and direct fire flares) – as a result of which the physical integrity of the class organs was threatened and damages were caused to an EL.AS service bus.

Police officers, using the necessary means – including the limited use of chemicals outside the stadium – pushed them away, as a result of which they left the scene and the tension did not escalate, while 16 arrests were made. During the checks before the start of the match, 6 people were arrested for violating the legislation on weapons and flares, as well as for possession of drugs.”.
